Eggnog is a creamy drink made with milk, sugar, whipped eggs, and nutmeg. It is a delicious holiday drink that is used to make co*cktails but can also be enjoyed as is or used in baked goods.

It has a rich nutmeg and vanilla flavor with a velvety texture thanks to the eggs and cream.

Ingredients For The Eggnog Cookie Bars

  • Butter:The butter is essential to the structure and flavor of the cookie bar. Make sure to leave some aside for the frosting after.
  • Granulated White Sugar:It can’t be a sugar cookie without sugar, am I right?
  • Brown Sugar:Brown sugar provides a boost to the texture and keeps these eggnog bar cookies extra chewy.
  • Egg:The egg is our binding agent.
  • Eggnog:Creamy eggnog is the star ingredient in these eggnog cookie bars. Make sure to use full-fat eggnog, not the reduced-fat kind to make sure that the texture of both the sugar cookie bars as well as the frosting stays rich and delicious.
  • Vanilla Extract:Vanilla extract alongside sugar is the main flavor of sugar cookies. It’s valuable in all sweet treats to help bring out the natural flavors of the other ingredients, which is the eggnog in this case.
  • All-Purpose Flour:All-purpose flour works great for this recipe.
  • Baking Powder:Baking powder gives rise to these eggnog cookies to make them fluffy and airy.
  • Nutmeg:The fresh nutmeg pairs brilliantly with all eggnog recipes and really balances out its flavor.
  • Salt:Note to all bakers out there, salt is a must-have to make all of your desserts taste even better.

Can these eggnog bars be frozen?

    Reply

    • Chahinez

These cookie bars freeze beautifully. Once you frost them, chill them until the frosting is solid then slice and store in an airtight container and in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Once you are ready to enjoy them, thaw them on a flat surface (think cutting board or plate) in the fridge overnight and enjoy!

I want to do a 9×13 pan… would that be possible? If so, would I double the recipe or?

    • Chahinez

Yes just double the recipe! You might have to bake the bars for a few more minutes!
